Sownote Terms of Use

Last updated: 19 October 2026

These terms apply when you use Sownote, a notes app made by DODSWORKS (Pty) Ltd, trading as DodsWorks Software ("we"). On iPhone and iPad, Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement also applies. If the two disagree, Apple's agreement wins.

Your notes are yours

Everything you write or add in Sownote belongs to you. We don't receive it, and we claim no rights to it.

Using Sownote

You may use Sownote for your own personal or work notes. Please don't use it to break the law, and don't copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows.

Keep a backup

Sownote saves your notes on your device, and sync copies them to your own iCloud or Google Drive. Devices get lost, broken or reset, and sync services have outages. Make a backup now and then: Settings, then Backup.

No warranty

Sownote is provided "as is", without any warranty, to the extent the law allows. We work hard to keep your notes safe but can't promise the app will be free of bugs or always available.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any lost notes or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss, from using Sownote. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.

iCloud and Google Drive

If you turn on sync, your use of iCloud or Google Drive is also covered by Apple's or Google's own terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. If we do, we'll change the date at the top, and the new terms apply from the next version of the app.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
